A tanning bed is a device that by emitting ultraviolet radiation (usually UVA, but recently also UVB) is used for cosmetic reasons (to induce an artificial tanning), but also for herbs al reasons. Because of various negative effects to the human health, the World Health Organization does not recommend the use of UV tanning devices for cosmetic reasons. If you do decide to use a tanning bed for cosmetic purposes, be sure to take the proper precautions first. Such precautions would be wearing proper goggles, and making sure not to stay in the tanning bed too long.
A study by a Dr. Anthony Liguori and others, published in the July 2004 issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Part 1, suggests that the use of tanning beds may become fun ive to users. The UV rays that the tanning bed emits stimulate the production of endorphins, resulting in a natural "high".
