Satellite radio is emerging as a major presence in the audio/entertainment market this year. Satellite radio is an impressive technological feat. Satellite radio works by beaming a digital signal from a satellite orbiting earth to your satellite radio receiver.
Satellite radio is superior to conventional radio because your signal is uninterrupted if you leave your city. Most FM radio stations have a range of 50 miles, while with satellite radio you can drive all the way across the USA without having to change your station. Satellite radio is also crystal clear, near CD quality audio with few or no commercials depending on the station.
There are some downsides to satellite radio however. One of which is you must buy new hardware to receive the signal and hear the audio, while this is fairly inexpensive you must also pay a monthly fee which may deter some people from jumping on the bandwagon and signing up; however, most people find satellite radio more than worth the cost.
